Bellville Velodrome is a 250 meter, multi-purpose indoor velodrome located in Bellville, Cape Town. The velodrome was initially developed for the South African Olympic Bid, and hosted the World Cycling Federation Championships in 1999, however today it is used for a wide range of events for a variety of different occasions.
With a recent emphasis on concerts, they have hosted a wide range of local and international festivals and artists in the comfortable space, and while not on the same scale as the impressive Cape Town Stadium, it fills an important niche in the events, sporting and entertainment industry.
The Velodrome is situated in the Northern Suburbs in the suburb of Bellville, but is easily accessible via the N1 freeway from Cape Town. This makes it convenient for most residents of the city.
Facilities at the Velodrome are simple but sufficient, and make for a comfortable viewing experience. And while additional facilities have usurped the destination in many ways, the events that are held at the venue are typically efficient and smooth-running.
