Aubergine restaurant in the Gardens area of the Cape Town City Bowl was established by chef and patron Harald Bresselschmidt in 1996. Since its opening it has been continually recognised as one of the finest restaurants in Cape Town
being voted in the top five restaurants in the Africa and Middle East Category by the San Pellegrino World´s 50 best restaurants. Aubergine serves sophisticated cuisine in a warm atmosphere. The decor is contemporary, with dark wooden furniture and interesting art work.
The restaurant feels it is extremely important to match great food with fine wines and so has a remarkable wine collection in which every South African wine growing region and grape is represented. There are also sommeliers on their staff eligible to guide you in the right direction if your wine knowledge falls a little short.
Aubergine provides a dining experience that is not to be missed; it is a restaurant that will surely impress diners. The staff are efficient and courteous and all of them are highly knowledgeable in the beautiful dishes that are brought to the table, which simply adds to the whole professionalism of the restaurant. There is also a wonderful terrace open for summer dining, and it's a Cape Town institution not to be missed.
